He only had to give in to 4-times World Champion Gollito Estredo in a tight final. On his way he beat among others Yarden Meir, Davy Scheffers and the reigning champion Steven van Broekhoven.

Nicolas Akgazciyan, Björn Saragoza (both 5.) and Yarden Meir (9.) also sailed very strong heats finishing in the Top-10.

Adi Beholz was voted “PWA Sailor of the day“ for his great performance on the first day of sailing. He was only beaten by current Vize-World Champion Kiri Thode and could not come back in the Double Elimination as the wind died down.

Our Russian team rider Yegor Popretinskiy (17.) also performed very well and only lost to Julian Mas in a close battle.

Congratulations to all riders on a great season opener and good luck for the upcoming events!

2. Taty Frans
5. Nicolas Akgazciyan
5. Björn Saragoza
9. Yarden Meir
17.
After one year of testing by a lot of sailors at different places and under different conditions the revolutionary Delta Wing fin design has landed and will now be available beginning of May 2012.

The Delta Wing fin is the world´s first shallow water fin. Due to the extreme short length (about half the length of a conventional fin) and the high rake there will never be a problem in shallow water and/or heavy weed.

Three different Delta lines will be available

- Delta (Freeride)
- Delta Slalom
- Delta Speed

Besides of the short length and the high rake a Delta Wing allows to realize very thin foils without any problems in stiffness. This makes the Delta fin extremely fast. Further the short length allows you to sail in a tideway where you can catch absolutely flat water which incrases your speed further.

Speeds of more than 45 kts have been reached with the Delta Speed fin under not optimal conditions.
In addition the high rake makes the fin very comfortable and controllable at high speeds.

The Delta Wing inherent feature in providing a leading edge vortex at high angle of attack which holds the flow on the surface at up to 30 degrees gives the fin also good upwind sailing performance.

Jibing with the Delta is easy without loosing speed.

Deltas have also been tested in the waves in single and multi fin configurations where the short length provides fantastic agility. After more testing we will decide to offer also Delta wave fins in the near future.

Here an evaluation report from PWA slalom sailor Roberto Hoffmann who tested two Delta Ride fins in Italy (Wind 10-20 kts, Freemove Board with 110 Litres, 6,1 Sail, 16,2 and 17,6 cm Delta fin length):

„The Delta fin is a great alternative to a conventional weed fin.
The first feeling is slightly different compared to a classical fin but after familiarization the feeling is that you have a very solid, fast, agile and well jibing fin under your board. Going upwind you have to give a little less pressure on the back foot but going downwind the fin is fast and easy to control.
Jibing is really nice and the overall feeling is simply ´super´.

I think this fins offer new possibilities in sailing shallow water places, having great performance and perfect control!”

Fins will be available from 15 to 24 cm length in steps of 1 cm with PB or TT box.
Comparable MUF slalom fin length is from 28 to 52 cm as:

Delta fin length Slalom fin length

15 28
16 30
17 32
18 36
19 38
20 40
21 42
22 44
23 48
24 52

www.mauiultrafins.com
